Why is it important to look to the future when the present is bad?
WHY LOOK TO THE FUTURE?
He’s not there yet, he’s worried about the past, problems in the present, what good is there in the future? What’s the point of looking there then? You’ll only get upset.
In fact, looking to the future is very important. Emil Frankl explained this. There are circumstances when nothing good is visible around. And the past has disappeared, you can never return there.
The trick is that you need to look into the future correctly!
You cannot build a future from a bad present. You really won’t see anything valuable. It must be built from the memories of the past! From those good moments that have already happened. And which can become the basis for the future. Frankl, while in a concentration camp, in the most terrible moments dreamed of how this whole nightmare would end and he would again stand at the pulpit and lecture. Communicate among your circle of scientists and students. That his life would somehow get better. And this gave him strength. Strength not only to survive in those terrifying circumstances, but also to help others!
And he was among the small minority who survived. And again he stood at the pulpit and lectured. He created a whole direction in psychotherapeutic assistance.
