Which psychologist would I go to?
I wanted to call the post “how to choose a psychologist,” but that would be wrong. Everyone has their own and subjective criteria here. Therefore, I will tell you what is important for me and which psychologist I would go to myself.
1. The most basic things. Having a higher education. Moreover, he graduated from medical university. I saw differences in programs, in practical bases, in students’ scientific works. In time and intensity of training. Perhaps this is my bias, but that’s how it is. Master classes and courses are generally additional education, which should only be layered on top of the main one. Those who have certificates from master classes, but do not have a higher education diploma, are not psychologists.
2. Based in his work on science, and not on esotericism and everyday psychology. At the same time, he does not condemn those who believe in it. Not judging anyone at all. A fine line.
3. Does not discriminate between people on social, racial, religious or any other basis. Someone who sees the individual first and is not biased towards any group of people.
4. Free from stereotypes about women’s and men’s responsibilities. The roles of women and men in the family and society.
5. Free from stereotypes about psychologists. Allowing himself the ordinary life of an ordinary person and not transferring his psychological nature to other areas.
