Success is experiencing a state of joy. The joy that efforts have led to the desired result or even exceeded expectations. And at the same time, it is important that significant people notice this result.
A child who had the opportunity to feel success or rejoiced at victory is determined to achieve success in the future. You always want to repeat a successful experience!
Ask yourself: where would you try harder? Where would you like to work?
They value you, praise you, listen to your opinion, notice your efforts. Nobody notices your efforts — that’s a given. And if you make a mistake, you will certainly receive criticism, penalties, or even be reprimanded in front of the entire team. Every day you are told that you need to try harder, work better and more efficiently. Don’t you want to quit? But your child doesn’t have that opportunity.
If failure is repeated several times in a row, then learned helplessness arises! The child prepared once, he is criticized, he is not treated objectively, he prepares again and again the same result, after which he does not want to make any more efforts.
This leads to decreased motivation.
Learned helplessness is a state in which a person stops accepting attempts to improve the situation, does not try to avoid negative events, although he has such an opportunity!
