Poverty is always dirt. What about wealth?

I rode a motorcycle along the Smelly Village — as Russian-speaking expats in Cambodia called it — and remembered that the same thing can be observed anywhere on the planet where people have little money. And I’m not talking about countries, but about specific points. Any outback of any country of the former USSR, ghetto areas of Europe and the States — it doesn’t matter at all. It’s just a matter of the amount of money specific people have.

I also remembered the time when, while riding around Kyiv on approximately the same motorcycle, I threw cigarette butts, pieces of paper, glasses and bags back into the windows of cars that were by no means poor. In parking lots he forced drivers to park straight, and near supermarkets he did not allow them to abandon their cart anywhere. “It must be difficult for you? Come on, I’ll help — I’ll show you where the carts are and wave my hands for parking. What is not needed? Can you handle it yourself? Thank you very much. Just don’t forget, I’ll keep an eye on it!” — I said with the look of a killer who is trying very hard to keep a sweet smile on his face.

No one ever argued or got out of the car to “sort it out.” Only once did one driver answer me: “I live in shit and I’ll shit myself” — the vocabulary was softened. This was my last time, then my hands dropped and rose only to silently remove the trash.

I fell behind people.

From myself too.

The nerves and health of the truth are more valuable.
