How to tame your envy?
Is it possible to tame your own envy? How to prevent it from becoming a destructive feeling?
Very often people do not allow themselves to envy. Even if this emotion has already arisen, they pretend that nothing is happening. But suppressing envy automatically launches destructive processes. Envy, repressed into the subconscious, is transformed into self-doubt, depressive disorders, somatic manifestations, groundless aggression, and anxiety.
Envy never goes away without a trace, just like any repressed emotion. In order not to face the feeling of one’s own inferiority and insufficiency, the human psyche puts into motion protective mechanisms that shift the focus of attention from oneself to another.
