“Fashionable” psychological terms

Article-reflection on trends in psychotherapy. Based on my own subjective observations.

In publicly available articles, blogs, posts, videos, these very topics are being raised more and more often: narcissism, abuse, toxicity, bipolar disorder, mindfulness.

It sounds from everywhere — narcissism, narcissism, modern society is simply affected by this disease. Here, of course, it makes sense to distinguish between narcissistic injury, psychopathic narcissist (as a personality disorder), healthy narcissism and narcissistic traits. More often they talk about psychopathic narcissists who gradually destroy the personality of another person. The topic is topical and multifaceted. Of interest is both the narcissist himself and his “victim,” a person with a certain set of traumas that leads to a relationship with such a subject. It is impossible to cure a psychopathic narcissist; the only option is to run away from him as early as possible and as far as possible.

Related to this are themes of abuse and toxicity, which are also common. Often, deep-seated traumas do not allow us to see the pathology of relationships and the environment in which a person lives. It takes a whole Path to discover this and then return to Self.
