Calm down! or “Stuck” emotions.

What are you feeling now?

What emotion are you experiencing?

What are the sensations in the body?

How often thoughts, rather than sensations or feelings, are the priority of our attention! And this is understandable: after all, from early childhood we were taught to think, not to feel. We were told that feelings get in the way, that we need to act with a “cool” head. And feelings… feelings are something secondary, distracting, confusing.

How many times in your life have you heard: “Calm down!”? But this “calm down” was the same as “don’t feel”…

Now try to imagine how many times your emotions and feelings, not illuminated by the attention of your consciousness, remained unconscious, how many times they “stuck” in your body in the form of a release of certain hormones that did not find use for themselves.

The release of hormones leads to certain physical changes in the body: acceleration or slowdown of the heartbeat, tension of certain muscles, increased/weakened intestinal motility, secretion of the corresponding glands, and so on. Without receiving logical development, the bodily reaction simply breaks off: there was tension, but relaxation did not happen. So it turns out that the emotion seems to be stuck in the body, liberation from the conflict has not occurred.
