Are sweets the main source of pleasure? How to stop constantly eating sweets and cakes?
The obsessive habit of eating a couple of candies a day worries many. And if cookies, chocolates, pastries and cakes are added to these sweets, then the seemingly harmless habit of pampering yourself with sweets risks causing excess weight and health problems.
What lies behind the habit of eating sweets often and regularly?
There can be many reasons, today we’ll talk about one of the most common:
Sweets bring pleasure, we get used to this accessible source of pleasure and cannot deny ourselves another portion of the “happiness hormone”. After some time, the consumption of sweets becomes similar to addictive behavior (as with many other addictions: you want to increase the dose and have constant access to the source of pleasure, otherwise anxiety or aggression sets in, or boredom and sadness).
The situation is aggravated by the fact that such “addiction” is conditionally socially acceptable (if they shout to us from everywhere that they kill, they don’t say anything like that about sweets). Moreover, in childhood, sweets for many played the role of consolation (don’t cry — here’s some candy for you) and encouragement (you’re a good girl, you behaved well — here’s some candy for you). All this could not help but be imprinted on the developing psyche, and in adulthood this greatly helps sweets to take a leading position in the imaginary race for the prize “The Main Source of Pleasure.”
