We rarely think about it, but hidden in every advertisement we see is the message that we are not as happy as we could be.

And that our life will become much more joyful immediately after we spend our money on purchasing the advertised product or service.

Advertising strives to awaken in us a feeling of dissatisfaction — and it succeeds in doing this perfectly, if not the first time, then the second or third. Studies have revealed a clear connection between our bad mood and the frequency of “bombardment” with advertising, forcing us to compare ourselves again and again with the advertising standard of a “beautiful life.”

We naively believe that advertising does not affect us.

Alas, this is not true.

It subconsciously, at the subcortical level, “zombifies” us and latently influences our thoughts (desires and purchases).

But since advertising so strongly contributes to our awareness of our misfortune, then we must try to avoid “meeting” with it in all ways available to us.

  • Yes, we cannot completely “remove” ourselves from human society, and we will all have to come to terms with life in a “consumer society.”
