About personal boundaries

Do you like touching, hugging, caressing and showing physical affection? On the one hand, the question is stupid, but it touches on the important topic of human boundaries.

Everything in this world has its boundaries, even the ocean is not limitless. Borders allow all objects, phenomena, things, and objects to preserve their integrity. And when boundaries are violated, this naturally leads to a change in the internal content of this object or thing. So, for example, if an apple falls from a tree and its thin skin cracks from the impact, it will begin to rot. An overweight person, trying to squeeze into tight clothes, will have difficulty inhaling air with his whole chest, and his insides will have to be very crowded, which will undoubtedly affect their work. The French writer Guy de Maupassant has a wonderful work on this subject, “Mother of Freaks.”

There are many real-life examples of violation of physical boundaries. In addition to physical ones, there are personal boundaries, the violation of which is not so obvious, but leads to no less, and perhaps even greater consequences for both the body and the human psyche. You can understand that your boundaries are being violated by the following 10 signs:

  1. You remain silent when you are treated poorly.
  2. Don’t know how to say “no” or say “yes” when you want to say “no”.
  3. The opinions of others about you are extremely important to you.
  4. You often feel guilty.
